Two funds have been established at Morristown Beard School to honor the extraordinary legacy of Eddie Franz, a beloved history teacher, counselor, coach, mentor and friend who was an integral part of the MBS community for 39 years and the LifeCamp community for more than 30 years as Director, passionately educating and empowering numerous young lives.

The Eddie Franz Endowed Scholarship Fund supports students who require financial assistance to attend MBS and exhibit the qualities of kindness, character, and leadership. These are the very same qualities that Eddie embodied and are reflected in LifeCamp’s mission: to empower youth to succeed and excel in life by developing life skills, character, and leadership. LifeCamp is a not-for-profit organization that provides an enriching summer day camp experience for Newark area youths between the ages of 6 and 13 and where many MBS students either attended or worked as counselors.

The Eddie Franz Endowed Chair for Wellness was established with a kind and generous seed gift from MBS alumna, Gwen Whiting '94. The faculty member who holds the Chair title will exhibit the qualities of kindness, empathy, character, and leadership – the very same qualities that Eddie embodied and were reflected in his work and his relationships.
